ABOUT THE PROJECT
A site comprising of a pair of derelict semi-detached Victorian cottages in approximately 0.5-acre plots, acquired during summer 2013. The property occupies a picturesque site adjacent to the historic church of All Saints, Freethorpe. However, the cottages had lain unoccupied and derelict for many years rendering any form of refurbishment uneconomic.
Previous planning applications had been unsuccessful. It was felt however that there was still scope for redevelopment provided a sympathetically designed scheme that took into consideration the historic setting and neighbouring church could be created. A firm of architects was commissioned and following consultation with the planning and conservation officers’, drawings were prepared for a single residential dwelling attractively designed to reflect the line and form of the existing buildings.
Planning consent was duly granted in July 2014 and the site subsequently sold.
